So here is my plight. We have a lot of Christmas Pajamas and by a lot I mean that if you look at our Instagram almost all of December is nothing but us wearing Christmas pajamas and after a month of thinking up costumes every day, this was a welcome change. However, our family Christmas pajamas are so in excess that we cannot keep them in the house and instead they are in a HUGE storage container in the area that all other Christmas decorations in the garage are kept (let that sink in...they are in a separate large red and green storage container). I am that individual that buys not only pajamas that fit the family now, but the day after Christmas, I will buy the next size up for the following year. As you can imagine, since I am buying new pajamas and still have previous pajamas, it adds up and every day is pretty much a new set of pajamas (cue face palm emoji). If I love a style I will just buy them full-price because they are not expensive (here's is looking at you bright red dino Christmas jams). This can be said for the Mickey $7 fleece-bottoms from Target that come out with a different design every year (we have about three variations of these) as these tend the be the ones that sell out the fastest on Black Friday when they are $5. Black Friday is a great way to scoop up Christmas jammies as well as they tend to go even lower than the day after Christmas and the adult full-set can go down to anywhere between $10-12. You know you may have a problem when your neighbor who is practically family texts you at midnight that she needs to raid your Christmas pajama collection for her own family.
We traditionally buy our family pajamas from two places; Target and Carters. Carters obviously is traditionally solely kids clothes, but during Christmas and some other Holidays (Valentines and Halloween) they do a collection of Christmas Pajamas and they are really cute and well made. I bought the kids THESE Team Santa jammies (we also have the Elf Crew) and by the time I figured to get them for Hubs and I they sold out, so we got THIS Fair Isle print instead (equally cute, true to size and the Hubs actually liked them). During Black Friday the pajamas are $10 including the adults, which is a heck of a deal, but as mentioned if you are worried about missing out on the ones you want, its worth it to just spend the $22 (the normal sale price from $45) and get the whole matching set as even when they go back up to a "normal price", not all the sizes return.
Hubs was a really good sport and has been enduring all the Christmas pajama pictures that I wanted to take (I am pretty sure because they are comfy and don't require a lot of work). As I mentioned, our neighbors across the street are practically family and my girlfriends husband (@itesh.ig) is getting more into photography and is quite talented. During Halloween, he took aerial shots with his photography drone (below) and recently came over (with all social distancing parameters in check) to take some Christmas photos for us.
You know you are friends with someone too long when your family opens the door in matching dinosaur Christmas jammies and they do not even blink, but just begin to set up their equipment. Tesh is amazing and not just because we are friends with him, his personality in general oozes patience (so flipping chill lol) and because he has two young kids himself, he never gets overwhelmed when they are over the picture taking and just want to run loose, in fact; he encourages it and as you can see below the cutest pictures came from it. Anywho, I love THIS pajama set that we used for the pictures and definitely need to get a size up for the Commodore for next year (see how this becomes a problem for me). I had no idea they were going to photograph as beautifully as they did or else I would have planned a lot more with them.
I ended up buying a majority of this years pajamas either right after Halloween or during Black Friday primarily because our store really has not been stocking anything. We have absolutely no Christmas trees in our Target and VERY little decorations. I have a funny feeling that as numbers began to spike, that they began either just pulling everything or refusing to stock as our store looked NOTHING like anyone else's that I was seeing in Northern Florida. I am actually glad I really didn't wait on any of the pajama styles I liked (other than not getting the size up) as everything has been selling out and even if you go search for styles now, you will see that a majority is no longer available and shipping is no longer an option. However, I will miss my shocked "crap, I had no idea I had all these" face next year.
I had bought the kids THESE right after Halloween. I had planned to get the Jack Skellington Adult onesies to go with them to do some cute pictures with, but although Hubs has been super supportive of my every excessive matching Christmas jammie whim, this idea came with an eyebrow raise and a hard "no" which I do not get often, so I had to concede...albeit it was a grumbly concession and a lot of "are you sure's?"
Yes, these particular pajamas came in adult versions, but we live in South Florida and the fleece was heavier than some of their other fleece jammies, so it was a hard pass. Plus, honestly they were not that cute, so I didn't feel like I was missing out as I did with the some of the others (here's looking at you Mickey White Christmas pajamas).
I 100% bought THESE Reindeer and Elf pajamas to be funny and to just snag a couple of pictures of the kids, but honestly they have become the most used of any of the pajamas that we purchased. They love them, they look adorable in them and they were a 100% worth it. I got the Elf that EV is wearing at Target and the Reindeer that the Commodore is in and then the second Elf costume that the Commodore is wearing was purchased at Carters since Target did not have a Toddler/Baby version of the Elf.
As a sidenote, if you do not have a reindeer box to wrangle your 1.5 year old to take pictures in, you are not doing Christmas picture taking correctly. It has been a life saver (#dontjudge you know you wish you had thought of it). You would be getting a lot of fuzzy on the move pictures otherwise.
The Elf Crew and Team Santa jammies were awesome that we got from Carter's and as mentioned I am still a smidge bitter over not being able to get my hands on the Adult Team Santa ones. As you can see, we are all about Team Santa around these parts and have multiple versions of the t-shirts and pajamas. I believe the Fan Club shirts came from Target last year, but they are Carter's and are sold their as well (we got a different variation this year). I also got family Team Santa 2020 shirts at the Children's Place, I am glad that I only spent $5 on them as they are dated with 2020, but how do you not commemorate this shit-show of year.
I adore the way they look at each other
Yes we did the Santa thing, they gave us literally a three second countdown to remove the mask and whatever they took they took. Luckily, it turned out well, but in hindsight looking back, I think we would have passed on this altogether. Santa was not in his normal spot so you had to walk through the mall. Almost every patron had their masks below their nose and there was no one enforcing it. We see this Santa every year and he is positively magical and I had felt a certain way after having to cancel our Thanksgiving plans at Disney and it felt weird not having a Santa picture for the first time since the kids were born, so we did it. However you feel about the situation I respect a 100%, but again looking back, I probably would have passed..
I adore THESE Mickey White Christmas Pajamas. Again, another set of pajamas that I wish I gotten in the adult versions, but I waited too long to pull the trigger. They are fleece, so we wouldn't have been wearing them very long, but they are adorable, look so cute in pictures and I wish I had gotten them just because of those reasons alone. I did size up for Commodore, but when I got them in, they were HUGE so, I was lucky enough that the last size that they had listed for shipping were his size, so I ordered the 18mth, so now they will have these for next year too (#unintentionalmomwin).
I absolutely adore the old school red Christmas truck on the jammies (my mom and dad had the two tone wood panel wagonneer growing up, so these provide me all the feels).
And lastly, I scored these tshirts for Hubs and I after Halloween as well and I adore that there is a front and a back and we just paired them with one of the fleece Mickey jammie bottoms that you get at Target (I believe this version was three years ago and it still remains my favorite).
Thoughts on family matching jammies?! Are you Team Family Jammie or No?!
