Finally Halloween....the time to decorate for Christmas Edition!

Seriously, doing 31 Days of Halloween was exhausting. I loved it, but exhausting and I have never been so excited to pack up for Halloween and take out all the green and red storage containers in my life.

What do you mean there is still Thanksgiving?!

It was kind of sad how badly I was looking forward to packing up Halloween and begin prepping for Christmas, but then I have to remind myself that I began decorating for Halloween at the end of August...so there's that. I have also been ordering so many cute decor things from Target so getting everything in and having to put it aside was basically the equivalent of making your kids their favorite dessert in the morning and telling them they would have to wait till the end of the day to have some.

Again, this was another week leading up to the finale of Halloween so we didn't do any major costumes and it was really busy at work since I had sent out a massive email to my student caseload giving them ample time to reach out to me for questions or concerns and letting them know of my vacation dates. Doing this has really worked out well as while many of my colleagues will come back to work with tons of emails, I will maybe have 10 max.

We basically did Mando Monday (the Mandalorian was getting released on Friday for you non-Star Wars lovers) and then another day of wearing our Nightmare shirts which I love and then we just packed and left for my MIL's. We actually went a day earlier than intended since my BIL was also going up a day early and with us having to be back on Sunday because of the contractor coming on Monday, we gained a day with the family (as mentioned, we had been self-isolating for awhile to be able to do this).

Plus, as you can venture, Star Wars is pretty big in our family so being able to watch the Season 2 premiere of Mandalorian all together was kinda a big deal.

Enter my MIL's house.

We were greeted with this amazing scene in the kitchen. Yes that is a bubbling cauldron and the spoon actually stirs in the pot. Years ago we had a Harry Potter party at her house and it was beyond anything you could have imagined complete with floating candlesticks and witches brooms.

She even created her own Audrey ala Little Shop of Horrors. The woman has no chill when it comes to Halloween and has the most creative mind that can make anything come to life. Could you really ask for more in a Nana when you have toddlers though?

She had set up the outside with Halloween games, many of which held EV's attention span for all of thirty seconds.

She got her mama's squirrel-y mind. Luckily Nana's adult son's really took to the Halloween fames themselves.

On actual Halloween day, she had set up a scavenger hunt for EV and Danny where 13 treats were hidden around her property. The treats were numbered and marked with a cat for EV and a pumpkin for Commodore. It was so fun and clever and EV loves anything that involves mysteries or things she can find, so this was a big hit and Commodore pretty much loves anything that involves chasing after his sister so this was a sure-fire winner for him too.

We actually waited until later in the day to put them in their costumes since Commodores costume was hot and EV's was white. I was super excited for these and have been holding on to them since August.

Leia and Baby Yoda for the win!

In the evening, we watched the HalloweenTown series again as well as the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Halloween episode that I swear is a kid friendly version of Rocky Horror Picture Show, right down to the music. Fight me on this, I guarantee the animators were a fan of the Tim Curry, but who wouldn't be!? There was also matching jammies because were you expecting anything less? As well as an extraordinary blue moon that we took the kids outside to see and it was so clear you could see Mars as well. All in all, if we couldn't be in Disney, this was the perfect Halloween.

She is not a huge fan of anything cumbersome on her head, so she let me "take one picture...and that's it!" A literal quote...end quote.

Smothering hugs are obviously his favorite!

My MIL is an awesome cook so we were well-fed all weekend and I wish I thought to take pictures of all the goodness other than the caprese skewers that I was really proud of and my margarita lol #mamaobviouslyhadpriorities

Soooo who's ready for Christmas?!
