The countdown to Ocotober 1st is on and we are down just a couple days (squeee). I do not know what I am excited for more, to see everything done up in its Anniversary glory (even though many of the decorations have been up for quite some time) or the merchandise. Literally all the 50th merchandise was released the day after we left (this past Monday). The amount of seething in jealousy that took place watching all my Disney friends scoop up stuff was rough with a capital R. I have already forewarned the husband that we are getting up early on Friday and are going to be in Epcot for when it opens....end of story. Other than the merchandise I have tried to stay away from getting any more glimpses as I want to experience it first hand....I mean...just look at it.
Update: I began to panic about the crowds and even though I am so excited for the 50th food, I began to worry about where we were going to eat said 50th food and if we would be able to get a table anywhere so then I went ahead and booked Tony's TownSquare for lunch. My fingers are crossed that I can get my hands on one of those 50th Anniversary egg rolls for dinner...is that a weird thing to say (write) outloud?
Have you ever bought something to wear at the the parks, are super excited for said outfit and then begin to doubt yourself immediately?! That is how I feel about this dress. I feel it is perfect for the 50th, I WAS super excited to wear it and have it be in pictures, but as it gets closer, I am beginning to think it may be a smidge over the top for an adult.
Pay no mind to the blurry picture from the website, but it is no longer being sold so I cannot get a clearer image of it, but if you just hold onto your horses, you will see it in all its glory below.
Do not get me wrong, I am all about the over the top cosplaying, but this might be the straw that broke the camel's back. Am I still going to wear it?! Absolutely! Did I buy THESE matching sneakers to go with it?! Absolutely! Will I bring a change of clothes so that when the strange looks get to me I can change?! Also, absolutely! Honestly, I think there will be a lot of people in the parks wearing something similar as this was REALLY hard to get and all the big children's sizes were gone almost immediately the minute all the Disney 'gramers began posting about it. For the price, you couldn't have gotten a cuter hommage to the 50th and I will admit that it is super cute on and with EV and the Commodore in their outfits hopefully it will just demonstrate what a fun mom I am. Right?! Right?!
Plus all my Disney mama friends on Insta basically told me I would be crazy not to wear it and I would be crazy to go against an Instagram poll... ;)
I mean if you saw me this you would totally come up and befriend me, right?
My forever 'gramer helper..making sure my sneaks are up to picture spec
I went ahead and used the ol' Cricut to create the Commodore's t-shirts for the 50th and purchased THIS and THIS SVG. There wasn't anything I loved for the Commodore and it is really hard to put him into anything that is not 100% comfy that he will not try to rip over his head himself (here's looking at you pirate costume shirt), so we went with 50th t-shirts. The SVG's were absolutely perfect and if you are familiar with Cricut verbiage, they weeded beautifully.
I also purchased THIS SVG for myself for the day we are in Epcot and I bought THIS monogram frame for the front. 'Monogram Everything' has been my motto since I married Sean and I am not the least bit apologetic for it. I. Love. A. Good. Monogram.
I put the image on the back since obviously the monogram went on the front and I loved how it turned out.
There is something about the Commodore's feet in every flatlay that gives me all the feels. He loves helping more than anything and who am I to dissuade that love.
I actually found the headband at the Dollar Tree and am psyched about all the 50th Anniversary vibes that it gives. Sometimes I am just over ears, so fun bow bands are the way to go. Normally I get all my bow headbands from BellanotteCo or PeriWinkle Cloud Shop, but this one was quite the win.
Excuse the incredibly wrinkly shorts, I had yet to iron everything and wanted to take pictures ASAP due to the busy week ahead.
I think the SVG's on the shirt came out pretty great and I love me some holographic HTV (I use THIS one)
I originally bought THIS celebration dress from Tulle&Magic, but after some down the rabbit hole looking, I found THIS dress and THIS dress on Etsy and I just loved them. I was able to get them at $13.99 a piece as they have since gone up to $18.99. I also bought the Hocus Pocus (below) for pumpkin patch pictures.
For the price, they are a 100% worth it. You will find the same dress throughout Etsy and they can be found upwards of $30, so we got them right at the perfect time, perfect price, and they shipped super quick. I was a little hesitant with the sizes, but I felt for the price if I had to order a second it was not terrible. They are true to size even with EV being a little more on the petite size but I will say the tiered dress runs a little short. Nothing terrible, but I do have ivory bike shorts from Cat&Jack that I am bringing with us just in case.
As you can see they are perfect for the celebration. I am going to have EV wear the Celebratory Parks one for when we are at Epcot (right), The one that looks like the one Minnie wears (left) will be for Magic Kingdom (obvs) and the Tulle&Magic will be for Animal Kingdom.
Just to give you an idea of everything that is getting packed into the garment bag minus the shoes of course.
I really loved how the Commodore's shirts came out and feel that they will look great with everything else.
The Cat&Jack sneakers that I am wearing are actually a kids size 5, but I am a 7/7.5 in Women's and they fit perfectly. I was thrilled to find the water shoes for EV as they matched mine perfectly and were on sale at our Target for $4, so I bought her current size and her size up.
I used the same holographic HTV for the Commodore's shirt and I love the vintage WDW feel that it gave.
I was thrilled with the holographic Frozen shoes for EV as they were on sale on Target.com for $16, but were unavailable to ship. It did show that the only Target near me that had them was the farthest one of the four that I am always talking about, but they were unavailable for pickup (which traditionally is never a good sign), but I figured if anything I could look at their Bullseye stuff and drove out there anyway. I am so glad I did as they not only had the shoes, but they were on sale for $5 (this is where I also found the water shoes), so obviously I got the next size up too. I ended up getting all four shoes for the same price it would have cost me to ship the one pair if I had gotten my hands on them. Totally worth the drive. It was only 20 minutes and I am acting like I drove across state lines, pay no mind to me, but this is what happens when you have been pandemic bound for a bit.
As mentioned we do a Boo Bucket for the kids that is delivered by the Boo Fairy. Traditionally we do this the day before Halloween, but I recently I read that other Boo Bucket Mama's do it October 1st so that the kiddos can enjoy their Halloween goodies all month long and I am kicking myself for not thinking of this sooner. However, because October 1st also falls on the 50th Anniversary, guess who has now packed a Boo Bucket decorating bag to bring with them to the hotel?! Which also means that this mama is staying up all hours of the night to assure that the Boo Fairy visits and drops off all of their goodies. Yes, I am excessive, you do not need to remind me.
The only thing that did not come from the Dollar Tree or the Bullseye Playground were the Bat/Cat Sparkly headbands and those were from Marshall's. Oh and the Spiderman Zak bottles were from Target, but not Bullseye although they were only $5, so basically Bullseye prices.
Anyone else buy their kids socks who live in Florida and never wear said socks, but they are holiday socks and adorable and therefore are always purchased?! Just me!? I mean...kids Halloween knee-high socks!!! How does one say no, and they were $1!!!
Yes, I did buy my kids inflatable dinosaur head mallets to fight each other outdoors with! No, I don't regret the purchase as my kids love anything swords or light sabers related and they will absolutely love these....let the Dino Royale commence...
I loved the silly straws (can children ever get enough of silly straws) and bubbles are a huge thing around these parts (we even have a bubble storage container in the garage that has all kinds of bubble blowers in it) and with witch hats it is going to be a fan favorite come the morning.
The kids not matter the holiday always get books of some kind. I love the idea of the Boo Fairy gifting the bucket on the first so there is a full 31 days of Halloween reading that we can partake in including this one that we got at the Dollar Tree. One of the Commodore's favorite things right now is "Minnie".
I have mentioned before that I have a hidden storage container in the Commodore's closet where he cannot reach it and I keep treats in there for good days, bad days, jobs well done, etc. Without fail I forget everything in there and continue to purchase more things, so I have all kinds of stuff packed up for the Boo Bucket and no idea if I am going to give it all or just some...hence the two buckets per kid. I literally have no Halloween chill in case I haven't said it already. We always give one larger gift from the Boo Fairy and this year it was Ghost Spider and Spiderman costumes...because....obviously.
Here is everything all packed and waiting anxiously by the door, minus the husbands stuff which includes throwing everything into a duffle bag so I am not too worried...anyone else's husband pack like this?! How do they do it?!
Anyone else prepping for the 50th madness or planing to go up for the celebrations?! Are you already packed up? Planning anything special to wear? Wanna go all out and meet me there so we can be over the top together?! If you will not be in attendance, I highly suggest the amazing livestreams on YouTube of ResortTV1 or LakeBuenaVisitors and partaking in them that way as it is just as amazing to experience it through their lens and they both have wonderful personalities to watch when you cannot experience the Disney magic in person.
