It's September...Also Known As the Taking Out All the Halloween Decorations Edition

I don't know if you have been noticing, or living under a rock, but Target always hits it out of the Halloween ballpark (especially in the Bullseye area). As mentioned in a previous post, maybe I just hadn't noticed, but it seems that with the Pandemic, they released a lot of "dollar spot" items online and with a preordering option.

My mom went over super early one morning and got really lucky as they were just putting out all the Bullseye Halloween decor and she scooped up one of everything and a few of the ceramic cauldrons. I did not see these psrticular iems as ever being offered online and surprisingly, my favorite was the "we're really into Halloween" doormat.

I absolutely loved this potion case and all the fun little bottles. I decorated around it with the fake spell books that can also be found in the bullseye area and bat lights.

I did run into a lot of issues with the items I preordered and shipped. Mainly with how my purchases arrived. Multiple items were crammed not only into one box, but the smallest box I have ever seen. A lot of items came broken and some came looking like they have been used. Honestly, the biggest disappointment was that customer service could have cared less.

With that being said, I was able to get my hands on everything I was looking to get (mainly the Halloween succulents). They are positively stunning and incredible for the price. The only one I returned was the most expensive one of $35. Yes, it sings and it's cute, but the quality just wasn't as nice as the others. Did I really need a singing "gimme candy" succulent that my kids would have played over and over again?!

I battled over returning it, since I had the notifications on forever and finally scored it after umpteenth tries, but I just couldn't justify the price and quality. THIS one below was only $20, a great size and looked amazing in comparison.

The one above was $5 and I was lucky to score two.

I actually got THIS spooky fishtank for the same price as the singing Halloween succulent and I felt this was 100% worth the cost. It makes "fishtank" sounds, lights up, and the skeleton fish "swim". It can serve as a main table piece and you can just find smaller less expensive things to decorate around it (if anything at all, it's that good).

Even with all the shipping mishaps, the Hyde & Eek Boutique really did amazing with their Halloween decor this year. One of my favorites, was another surprise and it was THIS hollowed out fake book. I actually have one that is non-holiday that I had purchased at Homegoods years ago and it sits on our tv console and holds our remote controls. I loved this piece so much, that I bought one for our mantle in the bedroom as well. I hate remote controls just sitting out and there are four, so it allows them to be in one place. Our mantle in our bedroom can sometimes be a catch all, so its nice that Hubs keys, his wallet and the remotes can all be in one place. Plus, our mantle is one of the actual mantles from the original Haunted Mansion ride in WDW, so the book is fitting and actually something I would keep on it year round.

I love the holiday melamine plates that Target comes out with every year (they are always different) and I always buy them for EV. I bought extra this time around since the Commodore has started to eat solids. Part of the set, were THESE, and they were described online as being "bowls." As you can see below, they are insanely small and were made fun of all over Instagram. Once I got over the shock of the size, I actually loved them. They are perfect for a single scoop of ice cream for the kids or as tasting bowls for berries, condiments, etc (EV is a big dipper). I actually have been looking for tasting bowls for a bit, so it was a pleasant surprise, plus four for $3 didn't hurt.

Another fun inexpensive item were the wall accent bats. I'm glad I got them early on since after a bunch of Instagram influencers/bloggers/designers started posting about them, they became impossible to find. They are a great if you can get your hands on them and you get 100 for $3! I heard they also come in spiders and something else. They are a little tricky to bend and get them to look right, but the end result looks great.

It wasn't just important to have the house decked out for Halloween, but us as well (well, me and the kids, Hubs could care less). Since the Pandemic, I have been working from home, so I'm really excited to do 31 days of Halloween the way I've always wanted. Outfits, movies, and snacks oh my! I happen to fit in kids clothes, so I am always able to get EV and I matching shirts in the Girls section of Target (honestly, pretty much anywhere) and Target came out with the cutest Halloween outfits not just for us, but Commodore too.

The folded pile is a telltale sign how excited I am for 31 days of Halloween (cue the judgey eyes and face palm emoji). The ones laid out came from Target and I am fully aware that it is excessive, but I may never get the opportunity to do this again, so go big or go home (I've been watching a lot of Top Chef).

There is barely a space in the house not touched by some Halloween goodness.

My super talented BIL Made the BB8 Halloween Pumpkin. Amazing, right?!

Even my Minnie ear display is only showcasing Halloween inspired ears or headbands. Yes, we have that many! #sorrynotsorry

Since, Mickey's Not So Scary has been canceled (I'm not sure I would have done it anyway), I started an early search on Pinterest for make at home Disney Halloween treats. I am not a huge dessert person other than Disney at Halloween, so these recipes are a must. I plan a separate blog post on what we made, but just to give you an idea of what's to come ;

  • Mickey Pumpkin Beignets

  • Pumpkin Mickey Waffle Sundaes (bless you Golden Malted for making my waffle and pumpkin dreams come true)

  • Hocus Pocus Brownies

  • Hocus Pocus Cookies (found at Walmart)

Having learned from the frosting and cake mix debacle at the beginning of the Pandemic, the minute Target released all the fun Halloween cake goodies (let's be honest, from the picture you can see my priorites were all the sprinkles) and I went ham. I found an awesome skeleton mold for mini cakes and the infamous $10 Dash Skeleton Mini Waffle Maker (if you haven't heard about these, I suggest checking Instagram...they are EVERYWHERE, highly revered, and go out of stock super quick). The Pyrex has nothing to do with anything I have planned, I just loved it.

As all the packages came rolling in, EV would yell "another spooky surprise!"

She truly understood Christmas for the first time last year, so this is officially the year for Halloween and mama couldn't be happier. Luckily for me, she has been really embracing it more than I thought and has been loving everything spooky and exploring her "witchiness". Watching her get excited about all the "Halloween" things has been the most fun and I cannot wait to see everything we can cram into 31 days #nottheleastbitsorry #allthespooky #itsthegreatpumpkin.

Let the Spookiness Commence! Get Excited!!
