May The 4th Be With You & Revenge of the Fifth...the nerding in self-isolation edition

Looking back, I wish I had planned this day out better. There are so many other things we could have done with this time (arts and crafts wise), but considering what was happening in the world and having two littles, I think we did well with what we had.

You know what I was most upset by? Not having food coloring! just writing it out now creates a small twitch in my right eye. We had food coloring in the pantry long before the pandemic occurred and we NEVER used it. Lo and behold May the 4th occurs and so does my awesome idea of galaxy colored cupcakes (with the help of food coloring) and star sprinkles (which we had already...thanks Uncle Bryan). You know what I threw out before the pandemic?! The food coloring ::sigh:: I couldn't believe it. I even brought in my small three year old Tasmanian devil to help me tear apart the baskets in the pantry in hopes that I just threw them in there, but no dice. I am one of those people that has a grandiose plan at 3am and am super excited for it to come to fruition the next day. Not being able to have my vision come to light was a small kink in the grand scheme of things, but a kink nonetheless.

Let me start this off by saying my girl loves her some Star Wars. She refers to Clone Wars as the 'Ahsoka Show' and anytime Darth Vader comes on the screen in ANYTHING, she yells out 'Papa Vader'. We are THAT household. So you can imagine how much she enjoyed the Star Wars Day at Sea and how she practically lost her ever loving 3 year-old mind meeting Ahsoka in the flesh.

*her holding her hand and using the force, is my favorite

The Hubs normally does any grocery shopping Friday morning and sets his alarm so that he is there for the opening. Getting in and out (::giggle::) is the main purpose. He backs (::snort::) into the garage, takes out all the groceries, comes into the house through the garage (dumping all the clothes he wore into our laundry room), washes his hands, takes a shower and then goes back into the garage to wipe down everything for the second time with Clorox wipes (he wipes everything down he touches in the store too). If you are against any of this, please do not state your opinion as I have two kiddos that are highly immuno-compromised and I will take care of them the way I see fit...thanks in advance.

Therefore on Thursday night, I had made a list of all the meals I had prepared for May 4th and wrote down anything that we were missing for the recipe. But seriously, there is still no YEAST?!?! Like in the entire state...not just here!?

We started off the festivities by having a weeks worth of Star Wars shirts or as I like to call it....anytime I can match with EV since I can fit into the 'Girls' section of Target.

a huge thanks to Samsung for having a "motion picture" setting so I can just snap pictures of the kids and be able to achieve these gems below that I wouldn't otherwise. But boy oh boy is it a strenuous process of slowly moving my finger through the motion clips until I find the "oh look they are both kinda looking at the camera and smiling" shots.

*totally worth the 1,000's of shots I had to go through for this one

I took out all the decorations (because obviously in this house we would have these kinds of decorations on hand), such as; Star Wars blankets, stuffed animals (Ewoks, Chewies, etc), stuffed dolls (obvi Leia and Ahsoka...thanks Galaxy's Edge), costumes, we had a Star Wars Baby Shower (both times lol), so we had decorations from that and then we had saved (or I should say Mama insisted on bringing all of it home) all the decorations from our stateroom that was decorated on the Disney Cruise (best $65 spent on the cruise) and redecorated the house with it (who's laughing now Hubs?!).

EV only gets a "binky" when napping. There is something soothing to her about having it and playing with her hair and so good about all day park days...so be it!

For breakfast I made the obvious choice of Cinnamon "sticky" buns in honor of Princess Leia/General Organa hair buns, for a midday snack I made Tauntaun 'cheese' Horns (crescent rolls with halved string cheese in the middle) and Death Star spicy roasted chickpeas and for dinner I made our version of the Peka Pasta Rings that you can get at Galaxy's Edge in Walt Disney World. EV loves this dish and I love that it is plant-based so she is getting all of the veggies without her tasting it. She went from that loving broccoli kid to never eating it again overnight...kids are weird. I totally forgot to take a picture of the 'pasta rings' , but here are the ingredients and it tastes just like it. You can use regular pasta, but I love this chickpea pasta that we get from Target and it comes in mini shells and alphabet letters which are fun for the kiddos and an extra veggie bonus. I only use half of the jar of sauce and I put the sauce and the tomatoes into a blender and puree the ever loving jeebus out of it because I hate the sight of chunky stewed tomatoes (maybe I am the weird one).

Although we are aware of the order in which to watch all of the Star Wars like any good Star Wars nerd, I can only handle so much Hayden Christensen #sorrynotsorry and there are only so many hours in the day, so we pre-prepped on Sunday with Rogue One and then continued with Phantom Menace, Revenge of the Sith (turns out three-year olds love Jar Jar Binks), Solo, all of the Mandalorian (and the special)....and of course a bunch of Clone Wars with EV since I wanted her to enjoy the day with us and she is all about the "Ahsoka Show" unless Darth ::cough cough:: Papa Vader i son the tv.

On Revenge of the Fifth (Cinco de Mayo for the rest of the universe), we watched rise of Skywalker outside with EV and ordered Tijuana Flats (their delivery is out of sight and bar none for freshness). I thought I was smart by ordering a 6:30pm delivery time at noon, but everything is made to order, so we ended up waiting two additional hours for our taco extravaganza to be delivered. However, it was totally worth it. Not only was it hot and amazing, but we left a much larger tip and a huge thank you note to our driver who waited the entire time for it, he was the real MVP.

Hubs really sucked it up for me this night as he is not a fan of the Rise of the Skywalker and by not a fan I mean he grimaced the whole way through it and found about ten activities to do while I was outside. All in all it was a perfect way to celebrate and it has actually been quite fun finding ways to theme our nights for the kids and a Star Wars night always makes it that much better.
