Honestly I am grateful to have a mama and a nana that continues to spoil the kids from afar. All I have to do is send a picture to my mom about something cute I am considering for EV on Target or on Shop Disney and the next thing you know it is being delivered to the house (here is looking at you Mickey Waffle Maker and Toy Story Pizza Maker).
With some context: I hate dolls!! There, I said it! #sorrynotsorry #dollcollectorsareweirdos and by hate them, I mean absolutely terrified of them. I am convinced that they wake up in the middle of the night and just clamor around the house looking for mischief, snacks, or are unnecessarily staring at you. I would tell you a story that involved my father and his sick(but hilarious) mind, but I shudder thinking about it and in pure me fashion, it would end up being a tangent and the purpose of this post would be lost forever if it isn't already. I implore you to go look up Robert the Doll and come back to me with your 'dolls are the greatest' argument. I am against Barbies and any blinking eye dolls and an entire store made up of American Girl Dolls no matter how cute or fun it sounds (tea lunch and all), makes me want to go into a corner and rock myself. Hubs can bond with EV during this moment, I am sure it will be an adorable and memorable daddy/daughter day. I have a visual of Buzz Lightyear as Mrs. Nesbitt.
However with all that being said, I kind of love the Animator's Collection. I am aware of the complete and utter hypocrisy. You know what I love more?! The matching outfits you can get for the doll and your little (yes I know American Girls have this too and no I do not care). #disneyoutfitsarethebestoutfits. Granted, they release very little of these outfits, so when they do, I just buy them immediately. Once they are sold out, they do not come back in stock and they will move on with the next set.
So fast forward to now and my mother calling me on the phone letting me know the Animator's Collections are on sale for $20 (a super good deal as these are beautifully made) and she wants to get EV the Tinkerbell. How do I say no to this?! I love Tinkerbell! Plus, it is really hard to say no to the Grandmother as she will end up getting it for her anyway and claiming she had no idea about my fear of dolls. What came in the mail was awesome. Not only was it Tinkerbell, but mom had gotten EV and the doll matching pajamas along with matching pajamas for myself (which came with shorts...Florida hallelujah). The pajamas were super cute, nicely made, washed well and the fabric was perfect for Florida weather. It was also close to Mother's Day weekend, so my mom had also sent us matching Aristocats shirts (EV loves Marie). Super cute, right?!
My mom will avoid paying shipping at all costs, so she will just keep shopping until she hits the required amount. The minute I safely opened the box after it being in the garage and sprayed down for 24 hours, I yelled for EV that we were having a Princess Pajama Party. Luckily in some respect she is not her mother's daughter and didn't scream in horror when she saw Tinkerbell. but loved on her immediately and wanted to change her clothes (enter like mother like daughter). Here is my one disclaimer, the Tinkerbell doll is beautiful, but the wings are SUPER delicate, I think even for the aged child that the doll is appropriate for, the wings can easily be damaged. Having a change of clothes for Tink paid off as I could get EV super excited about our pajama party and put the Tink dress with the attached wings away.
I should probably stop looking at this as I am getting the heebie jeebies!
EV's Nana (Hubs' mom) had bought her a pop-up castle tent about a year ago which takes up a lot of space in our living room, so now was a perfect time to reintroduce it. It folds up and traditionally lives in EV's closet. While EV napped, I set up the inside of the tent with blankets, pillows and her favorite Disney Princess dolls (notice they are plush and without movable limbs and eyes). I had also taken out a set of matching mermaid jammies that I purchased awhile ago (notice the recurring theme of saving things) as an additional treat for her and Tink. I figured if she preferred these we could save the others for another night (which we ended up doing on Mother's Day).
And of course no Princess Pajama Party would be complete without a cameo from the one and only Prince Charming...we had reservations to have his first haircut on Main Street for his 1st birthday...completely understandable given the circumstances, but its hard not to be a smidge bummed regardless..
The key is to not cram too much into one night and if you have great ideas that you either forgot or didn't think about till later, jot them down. EV recently has become quite fond of having tea parties and she has an adorable tea cart set that is Beauty and the Beast. It has a Lumiere and the cart itself sings "Be Our Guest". I had been lamenting over the fact that I should have made fancy sandwiches or smores for our pajama party (we had lemon oreos, pretzels, and popcorn chips in fun snack bowls). Many of the gorgeous dresses that can be found at the Dress Shop in Disney Springs made its way to our Disney Character Warehouse for an unbelievable price of $20. I not only picked up every dress in EV size, but because I can fit into Girl sizes, I picked up every L/XL (depending on the fit) of the dresses that did not come in my normal adult size. I originally bought these with the intention of when we went on the Disney Cruise, but they were huge and took up way too much room in the suitcase. However, I dream of the day wen we can safely go back to Disney and we can twin at our favorite restaurants....anywho...digressing again...One of the dresses was a Mrs. Potts dress so although I was unable to think of better pajama party snacks, I know have the fantastical idea of a Beauty and the Beat tea party complete with movie on in the background rolling around in my head. Think I can get EV to eat a cucumber sandwich?!
