The 3rd Week of Halloween...also known as introducing the 'Boo Fairy' edition

Honestly, I was REALLY lazy with our Halloween celebrations this week. It pretty much consisted of all the matching shirts we hadn't gotten around to wearing yet. I am actually shocked how much we actually still had to wear...although in reality, I shouldn't have been. My vacation starts at the end of the next week, so we just kind of took it easy with everything. Strangely, the pictures from this week have been my absolute fave. I must have ordered at least six Mixtiles just from this week alone. My obsession with Mixtiles is real...

I also have some holiday ones that I put away and that are used for the Gallery Wall in our living room. I love having some Mixtiles that I can just put out on our floating shelves so that I can easily swap them out and they always look great mixed in with regular frames.

This week was also hard to really plan anything since we had a couple of contractors come over to look at our guest bathroom to give us estimates on what it would take to demo and reno it. I know this is #firstworldproblems with everything that is going on, but we have talked about it for years, we are both currently remote, and are in a place to do it. Also, it is a REALLY dangerous bathroom. In just talking about the aesthetic for a second (are you surprised I am digressing, cause you shouldn't be), I was an idiot when I first started planning what I wanted to do with it and how to make the most change on a budget (there were other things that took precedence and we didn't have kids yet). So I did what an normal person did and went onto Pinterest and began falling down the rabbit hole of 'guest bathroom' design ideas. Changes were made with new hardware, paint and design elements. In hindsight, I should have considered the size of the bathroom when I made the choices I did. Particularly, with the wall color. It seemed like a beautiful medium gray color until it was all over one wall. Immediately, I thought it was too dark, but we had already purchased the paint and I was one wall down so it was full steam ahead. I went has far as to paint the vanity as well. Honestly I love the midnight blue color of it. It just doesn't hold up, so I'm constantly touching it up.

Fast forward six years and the bathroom is "okay." I love the hardware and all the design pieces, but I hate the color of the wall with every fiber of my being. I hate it so much that I couldn't even tell you the color if I wanted too. In reality, it is a dark bluish gray-color and the biggest problem is that it makes our already very small bathroom feel even smaller. I make the mistake every darn time of not considering the size of what I am working with and instead just think about what I like. This also explains why we have a garage of unused furniture that I plan to "use in the future." Cue side-eye from the Hubs. Some day I will learn the lesson of; just because it fits into the space shown on Pinterest, does not mean that mine will have the same feel or the same size to validate the design. I cannot stand going into this bathroom, like not at all, which is so sad because it is the kids bathroom and I should love going into it and knowing that it will be the bathroom that they grow up in. Also, there is a step up to the toilet...let that sink in....A. Step. Up. When we bought the house, my first thought was that my wine loving self would plummet into the tub to my doom, now I am terrified for the kids and still moderately fearful for me. Especially since the Commodore has taken to going up this step and playing with the potty paper. So now, the bathroom door has to remain closed at all times and we have to remember to close it so that he does not hurt himself...

Don't believe me (ask the dishes...you know you were thinking it)? Let us just take a look at the madness of this bathroom shall we....

so as you can see, I have been Snoopy dancing about changing this bathroom for a week now and the first week of November cannot come soon enough...of course this corridor of where the bathroom is, is also where the kids sleep and with both of them having respiratory issues, they will be having a sleepover in our room for a bit.

Well that is a lot more than what I intended to say about the issue, so back to our regularly scheduled program about our Halloween week.

As mentioned, these are just a couple of pics from our makeshift pumpkin patch.

And because she is on the cusp of growing out of this Harry Potter skirt combo that I'd kill for in my size...

I follow an Instagrammer and blogger/designer Tiffany of PrettyRealBlog and she sent me down a rabbithole of everything I didn't know I needed for the kids for Prime Day. Target has a similar day that runs two days and I was able to get an early birthday gift for the Hubs. We have been eyeing an air fryer for awhile and although it is one of those things that you don't "need" it actually comes in quite handy and THIS one that we purchased is also a convection oven and a toaster so it allowed us to eliminate the really old toaster oven that we were looking to upgrade anyway. I was able to score it for $79, but it is on sale now for Target's early Black Friday Deals for $99, so it is still a really good savings considering it is normally $180. Anyway, Tiffany convinced me that the kids and ::cough cough: us needed THIS air tent. Our kids love tents and playing Hide and Shriek (thanks Vampirina) so this was a no brainer of what could be endless fun during this pandemic. I loved that since it was an air tent that you didn't have to have a Masters in Origami to fold it up and get it back into a zipper pouch. It just deflates into the size of a large scarf and just goes into a small bag, which we hang in our hallway closet. You do have to have a box fan and we bought THIS one. The fan also happens to fit right into the back of our hallway closet, so everything is out of the way, but it is still easy to take out. Tiffany also convinced me to get THESE walkie-talkies for the kids and yes, the Commodore technically is not "talking" yet, but I thought it would still be fun and it would be something that EV and the Hubs could play around with in the meantime. We are saving them for stocking stuffers and several other bloggers that I follow such as VeronikasBlushing also recommended them so it was kind of a no brainer and they were a great deal of about $10 on Prime Day. I am that person that never gets the logical stuff on Prime Day, but always the weird out of the box things (with the exception of the air fryer of course).

Honestly, the next series of pictures are some of my fave. I am not sure what I love more, the fact that EV and I both fit into these Girls Minnie dresses (I truly love them) or how meticulously EV cleaned the bottom of Commodores feet so that the his swinging experience lived up to its greatest potential. Obviously the cleaner one's feet, the better one swings.

The two main events we had planned this month were Hocus Pocus and Boo Baskets. I had watched on the 'Gram all these super clever Insta Mama's come up Halloween baskets either termed #boobasket or #boobucket. Basically the concept derived from the idea that due to the pandemic, Halloween was going to look a lot different this year, but that they still wanted something fun for the kiddos. Some of these boo baskets were unbelievably clever/beautiful and I was super excited to do this too. Because of the time I was going to need putting together everything and wanting to enjoy it, I had planned to do it Saturday. Therefore, Friday was just going to be a relaxing tshirt...smile if you want too kind of day. We didn't even do Halloween shirts, they were just Disney Princess Friends Forever shirts purchased on Target.

Leave it to EV that on the night that the Boo Fairy is supposed to make an appearance, she decides that she is going to go for a Guiness World Record for a toddler who can stay up the latest.

What is the Boo Fairy you ask?! Obviously the fictional character that a super creative mama makes up to deliver said Boo Baskets of treats. I bought a majority of the items online and I have not done a lot of store shopping (I've maybe gone once since March), but I did park on the side of the Halloween and dollar spot section of Target and ran in right when they opened. I was like a whirling dervish, bought a bunch of fun small things and was back out the door in fifteen minutes. I also picked up two cards so that the Boo Fairy could leave a personalized note.

EV had the greatest time, but she was incredibly disappointed that the Boo Fairy was not available to give a hug and thank you for her Halloween treats. Getting a card from the Boo Fairy was right up there with Santa though #mamaforthewin

Halloween is not only my favorite holiday, but happens to be my MIL's as well. We had planned several weeks prior do an intensive self-isolation period with my BIL and head to her house for Halloween. Because she goes all out for the holiday, the visit from the Boo Fairy was basically my Halloween, which was what I had planned regardless. I understand a period of self-isolation is not everyone's schtick, but as mentioned, I have two highly immuno-compromised children and we just do what we feel is best for us. Totally worth it!

No one quite plans out Halloween like my MIL. Of course last year was Mickey's Not So Scary and the Disney Cruise was the year prior, but all the years before that have been monumental.

Rounding out our last week till Halloween and entry into Mando Monday included THESE adorable The Child/Baby Yoda shirts. I always get a little miffed when these shirts get released from Target because in their search engine you need to type "toddler graphic tee" for them to pop and more often than not they are in the "boys section." A large reason why the Commodore has such an extensively large Star Wars and Rock t-shirt collection is because I bought a majority of EV's t-shirts from this section. Why the have to be labeled as "Boys" is beyond me. High-five to Old Navy for now using the term gender-neutral for these types of shirts.

As per usual I digress. Color me surprised when these t-shirts came out labeled as "Girls." Fun tip, make sure that you read why it is a girls shirt. I had been waiting for the notifications on Target to pop forever and when they did for both sizes, I quickly added to cart and checked out. For anyone surviving the pandemic on these notifications, it's like winning the lottery (again, #firstworldproblems). Soooo fast forward and I get the box in the mail and realize it has a puffed sleeve. Like a very pronounced puff sleeve (think Seinfeld episode with the pirates shirt). As in as long as the Commodores hair is, it still doesn't cover it. While Sean side-eyed me, I refused to give up on this picture because next week started Mando Monday. I acquired one of EV's super cool, denim vests because denim vest never go out of style (#fightmeotherwise) and had been saving for the Commodore and ta-dah...puff sleeve no more plus, he looks super cool.

Case in point...

Sidenote: for mama's or daddios that are able to do amazing things with their kids hair, I salute you. I tried to do Princess Leia buns, but can't braid worth a dime and these take all of ten seconds #mamawithmindofasquirrelforthewin

Literally spent a good couple minutes folding the puffed sleeve into the denim vest so it was not noticeable.

Full steam ahead to Halloween...
