I will be the first to admit that we are excessive, like really excessive when it comes to our collection of Minnie/Mickey ears. This will become more transparent when you see how we store them. However in our small defense, we are not collectors of too much else and we get a lot of use out of ears, so I do not really think too much of it.
If anything, it will give you all additional ideas on how to store other toddler items as some of these things I have discussed before.
I talked about how one of EV's shelves was used for shoes, but the other side of the shelf in her closet looks like this...
I have always had a strange love of hatboxes ( I was a 100% that kid born in the wrong era...give me all the the pillbox hats and poodle skirts) and when Target came out with THESE, I already had an idea of how I planned to use them. In typical Dana fashion, I bought multiple (lets be honest, I bought one...fell in love...ordered more).
I even bought the Commodore the Christian RobinsonXTarget one (it is no longer online so I cannot link it, but you will see it below) as I thought it was super cute for a little boys room and I basically used it for the Commodore's ears.
Honestly, if you just have a few ears and are looking for a cute way to display them, you can always get a cute basket from the Bullseye section or from Pillowfort like THIS, THIS, or THIS and they would still look really organized and cute in your kiddos space.
This is how I used one of the Bullseye baskets. I love the way they are structured and still look so cute for storage and such in a kid's room. They have a bunch of nice ones now since Easter is around the corner.
Because the hatboxes are paper/cardboard, I do not use these to travel with as I would think they would get destroyed, but for organization and displaying purposes, they fit the bill.
If you are looking for something the kiddos can travel with, I suggest ThisDFLove (these are not always in stock and they are ALWAYS really limited so if there is a design you like grab it). However as you can see with Haunted Mansion one, it is slighlty cumbersome and I would suggest giving this to your kiddo that might be slightly older if you are going to make them carry it lol. There is also The PARC bag (which I talk about all the time and is 100% worth the cost as I use it every time and it has paid for itself a 100x over).
ThisDFLove Haunted Mansion tends to be limited during the Halloween Season if offered at all.
You can always scour Etsy as well. I loved the bag for Ellie below as she is still petite so with the shortened arms, it is easy for her to carry and it is not heavy at all (because it is plastic). Now with this bag and with my Cricut abilities I could have done this myself, but for $13 (and free shipping) it was easier just to order one and I supported a small shop besides...win-win. Unfortunately, I cannot find this purchase on my history so I am going to assume that maybe she no longer sells them, but with a deep dive I am sure you can find something similar or as I said if you have a cricut you could buy the SVG and do it yourself.
There is enough room that you can put multiple ears, pins and hairbows. I actually have a travel bag with hairbows and EV's hairstuff in it, so I tend not to overpack this bag and use it just for the nicer stuff that I do not want smooshed in a travel bag. I also love that I can hang it in her closet.
Keep in mind when I show you how these boxes are organized that I order EV and Commodore's ears from ForeverDreamDesign and they are toddler sized, so I can get a lot into these boxes. If they are the regular ears from Disney, they would probably fit half or a quarter of them and it wouldn't include those that were specialty and came with crowns, lightsabers, etc.
As you can see, they became really helpful to store other bows (I order them from Amazon) and typically come in a really large package with every color you can imagine, so this is perfect to house them all and lessens the risk of losing them. There are also plastic crowns in here that were REALLY popular in our home during the start of the pandemic and the Princess bows are actually from Target. I also have the small one in my room as well that houses all the little things that they don't want lost, but will get sucked up in a vaccum, such as; doll shoes, pirate coins, legos, etc. Its basically a lost treasure box.
This is the Commodore's ear box (Christian RobinsonXTarget...I know it is still sold in a lot of stores even though it is not online). It is super cute, quite roomy, and comfortable houses all of this ears with room for more when the time comes. Since he uses the felt ones from ForeverDream and they do not take up much space, I tend to just throw his in the plastic carrying bag with EV's. He is not big on ears, but if EV is wearing hers for pictures, he will wear his. There is a pocket in my Parc bag and sometimes I will just throw them in there two if we are only bringing two or three.
Now this may not seem excessive to the average bear, but I didn't show you my storage yet (::cue face palm emojii). As mentioned, I have the PARC bag as well as an ear holder in my closet for my really nice ones that are just a wee bit extra.
The rest go in an under the bed storage container. I would like to say don't judge me, but honestly every time I open these (yes plural), I judge myself. I actually have two of them under the bed and one is for holiday and the other is just for "normal" ears (::sigh:: I would say I need a support group, but it would probably be worse).
Just because I really do not want to show both, I will just let you take a gander at the holiday one. They are not crammed in although it looks like it (they are gently placed on top of one another and again although it does not look like it, there is plenty of room at top to close the lid.
I love THESE from Target, but any under the bed storage will do. I would just make sure that they are durable and that the tops will not crack and potentially ruin your ears. Also make sure to measure as some are hi-rise and are not a typical size for under the bed storage and if you are the type that eyeballs this sort of thing because you just happen to be in Target and are grabbing one, make sure to account for the lids as some are not as slim as others.
Do you store your kids ears with yours, are you just glazing over with how many ears we have LOL? I would totally understand. Do you store your ears another way? This organization loving mama would love to know...
